Eph 1:3-7 WEB 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love, 5 having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
In verse 4, Paul writes:
…he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love…
“he chose us.” In Greek, the word is “eklegomai”, which means, “to call out. To mark out beforehand.” You were “called out and marked out beforehand” in Christ before the foundation of the world and before you were ever lost in Adam.
You might say, “Well that is if you accepted Jesus as your savior.” And you might use Romans 8:29 to try to prove your point:
Rom 8:29 WEB For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
You again might say, “God foreknew who was going to accept Jesus at the foundation of the world, therefore He predestined them.”
Let me ask you this question: Is there anyone that is outside of God’s foreknowledge? The answer is, of course not. Therefore, God foreknew “everyone”! Then we must conclude that if He foreknew everyone, therefore everyone is predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.
Verse 4 continues:
…having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire…
Salvation is God’s idea and not yours! You had nothing to do with it. Everyone was chosen in Him before the foundation of the world! This is all-inclusive.
1Co 15:22 WEB For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
If all died in Adam, then all will be made alive in Christ!
